First of all we would like to say thank you to Newhaven Lifeboat crew for inviting us on one of there training exercises.

We all had a very enjoyable time. The weather was good. First of all we went in to Seaford Bay and they threw over a fender for a man over board exercise, then they launched the Y boat. While the Y boat was in the water they performed a man over board exercise. And the Lifeboat rescued the casualty.
Most of the coastwatch members had a go at the helm and were shown round all the navigation and communications equipement.

Many thanks to the crew of Newhaven Lifeboat in taking us out.

Currently at Newhaven the station lifeboat is the RNLB David and Elizabeth Acland, named after the recently retired Chairman of the RNLI. She is the twenty-first of the Severn class boats built and was funded from a number of generous bequests.
